One fact about the White Horse of Uffington

Did you know?

The great horse of Uffington, 360 feet long and 130 feet high, has been visible in Britain's countryside since the time of Christ. Formed by scraping away earth to reveal a layer of chalk beneath, it has been maintained by local villagers who gather every seven years—usually on Whitsuntide—to cut back the overgrowth and scrub the chalk clean.
