Who was Bruno Walter?

   Bruno Walter was a German music conduc­tor; born in 1876. He studied at the Sternsche Conservatory in Berlin. He conducted opera in Vienna from 1901 to 1913, in Munich from 1913 to 1922, and in Lon­don from 1924. Since 1923 Bruno Walter has often visited the United States as a guest con­ductor of various symphony organizations. From 1925 to 1929 he was conductor of the Municipal Opera in Berlin. In 1933 he was deprived of his positions in Germany. Walter died in 1962.
