Silvanus - mythology

  Silvanus, in Roman mythology, is an ancient deity of fields and forests, the protector of cattle and of the boundaries of fields. He is thought to have been originally a deity without a name, referred to merely by the adjective silvanus. He was identified by later Roman writers with other pastoral divinities, such as Pan and Faunus.
