Mahogany tree

The mahogany tree is found in Central America, the West Indies, and other tropical regions. It is a large tree with compound leaves much like those found on the ash tree in North America.
The mahogany tree is sometimes difficult to harvest because it is often found in places that are difficult to reach. The lumber is usually classified according to the regiĆ³n from which it comes, such as the Cuban mahogany, or Honduras mahogany.
Mahogany is a highly prized wood for use in fine furniture and paneling. It is a very hard, dark wood which can be given a high polish. Its durability is also one of its greatest attributes.
