Infantile Paralysis (Poliomyelitis) is an infectious disease. The Polio affects children chiefly, although adults are not exempt, is communicable to a moderate degree, and is epidemic. Its symptoms are fever, headache, restlessness, and rigidity of the neck, while vomiting often occurs, and pain in back and limbs may be present. In the majority of cases paralysis appears early, sometimes the first day. affecting the lower limbs, sometimes tie arms, rarely the face. The disease is times fatal and complete recovery in comparatively few cases, one group or more of muscles remaining paralyzed. The disease demands the advice of a physician from the onset.
