What are atoms made of?

   An atom of gold or silver or uranium is the smallest possible bit of gold or silver or uranium. It is so tiny that you couldn't even see it with the strongest microscope. People used to think that atoms were little round solid pills, the littlest things in the world. But scientists have discovered that an atom can be divided. In all atoms there are tiny particles which include protons, neutrons and electrons. Atoms have other particles in them, too, and scientists still haven't found out all about them.
   A particle of electricity is really a particle of energy. So we can say that an atom is really made of energy!
