Cerberus, the Three-headed dog

   Cerberus, in the mythology of the ancients, the watch dog of the in­fernal regions. He is represented general­ly with three heads, the central one more or less human in appearance, with the tail of a serpent and with serpents coiled around his fore legs, body, and neck.
