Robert Moses Grove

   Robert Moses Grove, known as Lefty, 1900-1975 , was an American baseball player, member of Baseball Hall of Fame, born in Lanaconing, Md. A left-handed pitcher for Philadelphia (1925-33) and Boston (1934-41) of the American League, he won 300 major league games. He led the league in earned run averages nine years; won and lost percentages, five years; strikeouts, seven years. He was named the league's most valuable player in 1931 and elected to the Hall of Fame in 1947.
