What is a gannet?

The gannet is a large marine goose having no external nostrils; webbed toes, short tongue. Related to pelican, cormorant. Feeds on fish. Found world over. Breeds in rocky islets of Britain and Iceland. Is white with black wingfringe. Is very tame; can be caught with artificial fish-bait. Is dying out on Atlantic shores. Guano is produced by Pacific gannets in Peru.
