The flying dragon

A flying dragon is any of a group of tropical tree lizards that can glide through the air. Flying dragons grow to a length of about one foot. Although they are dull in color, on each side of the body they have bright winglike membranes that are supported by elongated ribs. By stretching the membranes, the lizards can glide considerable distances. When the lizards are at rest, the membranes are folded against the body. Flying dragons feed chiefly on insects. The lizards are native to the forests of southeastern Asia, the East Indies, and the Philippines.
Flying dragons are classified as order Squamata, family Agamidae, genus Draco.
