An airplane in the opposite direction? Wrong way CorriganOn July 18, 1938, a U.S. pilot named Douglas Corrigan took off from New York on a flight supposed to be bound for Los Angeles, California.

But Corrigan made a mistake - he headed the other way, east instead of west. The next day, he landed in Dublin, Ireland, almost 10,000 kilometers from where he should have landed.

"Wrongway" Corrigan justified himself by saying that a wrong reading on the compass led him to the wrong size.

Corrigan's explanation is not very satisfactory, especially if we consider that between New York and Los Angeles there is not an ocean, as if there is between New York and Dublin. What did Corrigan think when he saw so much water?
