Interesting facts about radar for kids

Radar is an instrument that can discover at a distance an airplane that flies in the middle of the night. It can serve as a guide and help you land when visibility is poor.

Radar can be a guide or a spy. Its rotating antenna sends out waves which, after hitting an obstacle, return to their starting point. The time elapsed between the moment of the emission of the waves and that of the return makes it possible to determine the distance at which the object is; and the continuous launching of waves, to reconstruct its trajectory. In aerodromes and ports radars are used that reproduce on a screen the situation of the traffic. Airplanes and ships use radar to detect any obstacles they may encounter on their route.
