In 1290, a rajah from India decided to build a fortress near the city of Pune. But his architects told him that the desired site for the fortress was so muddy that the building would sink into the ground.
Then the rajah had a dream. In his dream, he saw that the entrance to the fortress was built with gold foundations. When the rajah awoke, he ordered his architects to build the foundation of solid gold.
So the workers dug two 3.60 m deep holes in the ground and filled them with approximately 50,000 gold bricks. Then they built the entrance on top of the gold.
This entrance, called the Purandar Gate, still rises to this day. And at current prices, the gold buried beneath the entrance has an estimated value of more than $120 million!
